The UEL International Study Centre staff said goodbye to our January 2023 cohort in style at a farewell ceremony in early August.
Organised to mark our students’ progression to their undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University, UEL’s main lecture theatre was decorated by the centre team to provide a venue fitting for our largest cohort to date in the Study Centre.
After opening speeches from Centre Director Simon Fitch and Academic Director Andreia Areal, our student representatives took to the stage to deliver thanks to the staff team and words of inspiration to their peers as they reflected on their time in the centre. Awards were then given to our Student Voice Group to thank them for their input into their centre’s operations throughout their time studying with us.
The fun then really started with the sounds of our students and staff enjoying party games and dance-offs reverberating around our Docklands venue. Our guest Kelly McGrath, HR Business Partner, joined with one group’s re-interpretation of Barbie Girl by Aqua, a true highlight of a great afternoon.
Final words were provided by Andreia, compere for the end-of-year party…’this was a great cohort and we wish them every success as they progress to the University and then beyond into their careers. We loved having these students in the centre, and were thrilled to provide a fitting send-off at our awards afternoon. The centre will be quiet without this group, but we know their successors will follow in no time at all!’
